The short version.
Zooroll is free and provided as-is. You own your recordings entirely. You are responsible for what you record and who you record — the law on recording other people varies by country and it is on you to know which applies. We cannot recover a recording for you, because we never had it.
1. Agreement
By installing or using Zooroll (the "extension") or this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use them.
2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the extension for any lawful purpose, including commercial use, at no cost. You may not:
- sell, rent or redistribute the extension as your own product;
- decompile or modify it in order to remove attribution and republish it;
- use it to break the law, or to breach another service's terms.
The Zooroll name, logo and website design remain ours. Nothing here transfers them to you.
3. Your recordings are yours
We claim no ownership, licence or interest in anything you record. Recordings are written to your own computer and never reach us, so we have no ability to view, copy, use, retain or delete them. Equally, we cannot recover a recording you have lost, and we cannot help if a file is corrupted, overwritten or deleted. Keep your own backups.
4. What you are responsible for
This is the part that matters most, so it is stated plainly. You alone are responsible for what you record and for having the right to record it. In particular:
- Recording other people. Consent laws differ. Some places allow recording a conversation you are part of; others require everyone's agreement, and the rules may follow the other person's location rather than yours. Telling people you are recording is both courteous and the simplest way to stay on the right side of this.
- Other people's content. Capturing films, television, music, paid courses or live sport is usually copyright infringement regardless of the tool used.
- Confidential material. If your employer, client or regulator restricts what may be recorded, those restrictions apply to your use of Zooroll.
- Other services' terms. Some meeting platforms notify participants when a recording starts. Recording externally to avoid that notification may breach their terms, and defeats a consent mechanism people rely on.
We do not monitor what you record and could not if we wished to. That places the responsibility with you.
5. Third-party services
The sharing buttons open other companies' websites so that you can upload a file yourself. We do not control those services and are not responsible for them. Once your recording is on YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn or anywhere else, that service's terms apply to it, including any rights it takes over content you upload.
6. Availability and changes
Zooroll is offered without any promise of continued availability. We may change, suspend or discontinue it, or any feature of it, at any time. Because the extension runs locally, a copy you have already installed will generally keep working, but browser updates may break it and we do not guarantee compatibility with future versions of Chrome.
7. No warranty
The extension is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any given recording will succeed, be of a particular quality, or be readable afterwards.
Recording is not always reliable through no fault of the software: a browser or operating system update, a camera being unplugged, running out of disk space, or a computer sleeping mid-recording can all end a recording. Do not rely on Zooroll as the only record of something you cannot repeat.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, nor for lost recordings, lost data, lost profits, lost opportunities or business interruption, arising from your use of or inability to use Zooroll.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Zooroll — which is nothing — or $0.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
9. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, damages and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of Zooroll in breach of these terms or of the law — most obviously, a claim brought by someone you recorded without the right to do so.
10. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy forms part of these terms and explains what little data exists and where it lives.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of INDIA, and the courts of DELHI have exclusive jurisdiction, without regard to conflict of law rules.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and continuing to use Zooroll after that means you accept the update. For material changes we will say what changed rather than silently replace the text.
